This webcam is located near Silky's Bed & Breakfast at Race Point, just north of Campbell RIver.

The view is North through Seymour Narrows, the site of the world's largest non-nuclear explosion in 1958. The twin peaks of Ripple Rock extended upward from the ocean floor into the well-travelled shipping lane between Vancouver Island and Maude Island, sinking 120 vessels and taking 114 lives between 1875 and 1958.

"Old Rip" earned a reputation as the fiercest, and arguably, the most dangerous area for nautical navigation in North America and was described in the late 1700s by Captain George Vancouver as "one of the vilest stretches of water in the world."
